What is Home Health Care? Is it right for me?

When you or a loved one has a medical need that cannot effectively be provided by friends or family, home health care might be the answer. Home health care is one of the most unused Medicare benefits.

Home health care refers to a wide range of services and support provided in the safety and security of your own home by trained and licensed professionals under the supervision of your doctor. Normally, it is much less expensive and much more convenient than being in a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Many of our former home health patients feel they recovered faster by having their friends and family around them at home.

Home health can be for a short period of time with the goal of helping you regain your independence after an injury, illness or operation. Should you require a longer length of care, our goal is to help you maintain the highest level of care and live independently as long as possible.

And unlike qualifying for skilled nursing, prior hospitalization is not a requirement. Your doctor however, will need to refer you and develop a plan of care for you.
